MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Our Christmas was great this year! The girls were thoroughly spoiled and it is so great to be able to be so blessed in this time of year when there are so many who are not. We started out with our annual Christmas Eve at Spencers. We had all the works with the nativity story played by Emma and Maycee.

Then everyone opened gifts from Grandpa and Grandma. It was wonderful and Grandpa and Grandma spoil us all. Thanks again for everything.

The girls got new pjs in the christmas countdown on Christmas Eve and they were quite the models for me in front of the tree

On Christmas morning Santa had definitly stopped at our house and I had let the girls sleep until they woke up and at about 8:00 there was a knock on the bathroom door and Maycee asked if she could open her presents. We called the grandparents and they all came to watch the girls open their gifts.

The girls got barbie everything and cute new clothes and craft things. They are all girl and you could tell by about 9:00 Christmas morning.

All in all it was a wonderful holiday! And now comes the taking everything down and cleaning everything up...my favorite part ;)!!!

Child Labor at it's finest!

So Em and Maycee LOVE to play in the snow and they are always begging to help shovel the snow, so my parents found these little shovels for them and they have loved playing with them. The next time it snowed the first thing Emma asked is if she could go out and shovel it...like I was going to say no...

So This is Christmas...

It hasn't really felt a whole lot like Christmas this year to me, and I think it is because I have had my head stuck in the toilet for the majority of the season this year. I finally finished the semester and to my amazment I did pretty good considering I tried to do about 5 million other things during the semster. But it is over and I am that much closer to finishing. I now have finished all my general education requirements and so I have about 15 nursing courses, of which I can't take until I start the program so I am taking one last math class in January and then maybe next fall I will be able to start the nursing program somewhere...It could prove interesting seeing as how I will have a 2 month old baby but it can be done and I am not the first to attempt it I am sure.
In trying to feel "Christmasy" we took the girls to look at the lights on Temple Sqaure. They thought they were cool and the highlight was the nativity scene that is in between the tabernacle and visitors center. Temple Square lights just aren't like they used to be(at least from my memory).

I finished most of the last of my christmas shopping last Saturday, with being so sick and school and work I haven't been able to get any of it done before, but with the exception of a few things it is done now. We also had the Hyde family party Saturday night in Heber and it was fun. The special guest of every year is Santa Claus and last year Maycee didn't want anything to do with him, she wouldn't even let me get within 10 feet of him without screaming so we waved to him from a distance and Brad had to go get her gift. This year she was VERY excited. She marched right up there and before Santa could even say hi she stood right in front of him and rattled of her list of what she wanted. It was the cutest thing and everyone started to laugh. And if you know Maycee she has this thing about noticing what she does and she gets REALLY angry when you snicker at something she says or does that is from the mouth of a three year old, so needless to say she turned around to everyone and told them all to STOP LAUGHING! and then politly turned to Santa and sat on his lap and got her present. I wish I would have had a video recorder, it was one of those things that was just so funny and totally worth having on tape. She happened to be the first one he called and when she got home she was telling Emma that it was so cool and that she couldn't believe Santa called her first! Her little imagination is so innocent and I love it! I love to see her so excited about this, it is all so real and it is great to have that kind of spirit in our home. I forgot to take the camera, it was once again one of those days, so there aren't any pictures of the girls with Santa this year(and he was a really good one too dang it!) Anyway, that does it for now...till next time...

It's a BOY!!!

Well that is according to the Ancient Chinese Birth Chart...My cousin said to try it and see what it says you are going to have, it's a goofy little thing that is suppose to be 93% accurate, and she says that all her friends have been right who have done it. So it says that we have a 58% chance of a boy and 42% chance of a girl. I don't know, I am thinking at this point that our chances of a boy are pretty slim...I guess we will see...

Timing was never my thing

So my mom is SOOOOO excited about this that I have to post this before she tells everyone on earth. We are still pretty early in this adventure but we are all very excited so I guess it won't hurt to let everyone know that we are...drum roll please...expecting baby #3! It has been a VERY long road to this baby, considering the ways in which I got pregnant with the other two(while on birth control). I had to take extreme measures with the birth control this time around and it really messed me up and has taken me over a year to get pregnant, but we are and it is due the first of July. The girls are very excited that they get a new baby, and so is the rest of the fam (Brad just says it better be a boy!)
But my sister in law is expecting too and she is due the end of July so we will have two babies at the same time, it will be great to have cousins for the girls and the new ones to be so close in age will be great. Anyway-the morning sickness has set in and I definitely feel pregnant, I asked Brad to remind me why I wanted another one...he said he had no idea. I am not made to have babies, but oh well...here we go...

Getting Caught up...

So I haven't done a whole lot of blogging lately, although I did post pics but that was it. So I am finally going to get caught up and let you know about what's been going on. So here goes...

We love our house and our neighborhood! We moved into one of the best wards so far. Last Sunday was our first time there and we probably had the entire ward personally introduce themselves to us. I've had the Relief Society Presidency over (they were just put in three weeks ago). And the bishop actually introduced himself and shook our hands(amazing, if you know the story behind my issue with that!) It was a great experience and it makes me glad that we have moved into a good neighborhood, since we are planning on being here a while.

The girls have adjusted well and they like all the room and the quiet street that they are the noisy ones on. Of course they like to be the center of attention. There are lots of kids in the ward and the girls already have play dates with a few of the new friends they have made(they are quite the little social butterflies).

They had a great time on Halloween. We went to the usual, up to Grandma Spencers and then to Sowells and then we went to our old neighborhood to a couple of houses and then we came and went around the block in our new neighborhood. They got so much candy and had a blast so it was a success.

Emma was Jasmine and Maycee was Tinkerbell for Halloween this year. They were so fun, it's great to have them old enough to get the whole idea.

We also have a yard that we have to do yard work. We have a great big tree in front that drops a million leaves and so this week has been spent raking them. The girls loved making the pile and jumping into it!

Also I already told ya'll that it was my birthday but I have to mention that Brad is the best at picking out flowers and he always brings me the most gorgeous flowers for my birthday.

So that about gets you caught up on us...till next time!

We are in! It has been a CRAZY couple of weeks but we are moved into our new house! We love it and hopefully it will prove to be a great neighborhood. The girls can't wait to meet all their new friends(that's what they told me the other day)! It is still a mess but it will soon feel like home...hopefully...

The girls have been awesome through this whole thing and have moved quite easily into the swing of things. And we couldn't have done it without all our family and friends! You guys are amazing and you are sooooo appreciated!!!!!! We love you all!

The girls are so excited for halloween. Emma is being Jasmine and Maycee is Tinkerbell. And they are the cutest ever if I say so myself. They decorated their "haunted house" this afternoon and had so much fun.

We will invite you all over for a party when the house is all put together so you can see it. We have an awesome patio so it will be party central!

It was my birthday last Monday, and I spent the day cleaning our old house for the landlady. Oh well-It was a good day. They kids were well behaved and I got a lot done that I needed to so even though it wasn't the most exciting day, we had just bought a house 3 days before. I can't complain...

Anyway-I must go back to working...packing and homework and kids and laundry and should I go on, or do you get the picture? I am sure you all know it well...

'till next time

SOOOOOO Busy!

I don't know why I do this to myself but I do it a lot! I get so many things that I try to do all at the same time and I get so stressed out that I can't handle it! But somehow I get through. I can't wait for the day that I have nothing to do... I don't think it will ever come but what's a little wishfull thinking?

So both the girls said they wanted to play soccer this fall instead of dance but they are both better cheerleaders than players so I think we will stick with the dance next year(it is so much more expensive but oh well).

Maycee's attempt at soccer

Go Emma!!!

They are all finished playing for the fall now, and it is a good thing. Brad and I found this house that we really liked in West Bountiful and it was reasonably priced so we went to look at it and decided to make an offer on it, and they accepted it. So we are buying a house! (I am freakin scared out of my mind, but I'll deal!) I just can't think about how much money it is! So anyway, we will close on it next week and next weekend we are moving! I am so excited and the girls are very excited too. It is kind of sad because we have lived here for three years and have just started to make some really good friends but it isn't that far away I guess. My friends in this ward are great, but hopefully there will be great people in our new neighborhood too. The girls are excited because they can now get their kitty or dog. It won't be until the new year because Brad wants to buy a boxer and they are super expensive too. But it will be wonderful to have my own house. I don't have any pics available yet but next weekend I will take tons and post again once we are in the house. It is going to be a wild ride for the next 2 weeks or so. And to add on top of it all, I am right in the middle of the semester. And we decided to do this just as the economy tanked, man it's been a stressful couple of weeks, and it ain't over yet...

Odds & Ends

It has been a pretty routine couple of weeks. Emma and Maycee LOVE school! Em comes home everyday with lots of stories about what she is doing and her friends at school. She is getting so independent and it is a little scary. She is participating in the school choir and she loves it too. They hold practice every Thursday morning from 8:00 to 8:30 but school doesn't start until 8:45 so Em informed me that she knew the way to her class from where the practice was held and that I did not need to wait for her. I then informed her that she was only 5 and that she was not going to wait by herself for 15 minutes unsupervised( I am not that ready to let her be "Big"). But she loves everything about school, and her favorite part is recess (I don't know a child that doesn't say that is their favorite part).

Maycee loves preschool too and she is doing really well. I haven't gotten a call from her teacher saying that she is beating the other kids up yet so I am very proud of her. She even got to pick a treasure out of the treasure box for being good last week. My little princess Maycee picked the one inch rubber fly...who knew...it is her most prized possession this week, crazy girl.

Brad went hunting last weekend and while he had a great time, he lost his one contact out of his worst eye. Brad's vision is aweful and he has a degenerative disease so his contacts are VERY IMPORTANT to say the least, he can't see anything without them, so we have scrambled this morning with the Moran Eye center to get him a new one ASAP because he can't drive or work without it. We got them to order him a new one and they overnighted it so hopefully it will be here tomorrow and I can go pick it up. He had an awesome time hunting with his Dad and Brothers. It is very much a male thing though I have decided. I am not sure that my little girls would appreciate it like their father thinks they should, Brad needs some boys...Crazy boys...From what I can tell they all had a good time and it's good for them all to have some time spent together. However I decided that I depend on Brad A LOT for a number of things, mainly just companionship, more than I thought I did and I missed him tons for the four days he was gone. But it was good for him to get away for a while and do something he really enjoys. But it's a good thing it is only an annual thing...

Anyway,that's about it for now...

'till next time.

How Does the Tooth fairy get in my bedroom?

So Emma lost her first tooth this afternoon. And Brad didn't even have to tie her face to the doorknob! ( I am pretty sure that I am permanently scarred from the time that my father really did that to me!) She has been working on it for a couple of days and it finally fell out this afternoon! My kids have an issue with blood and so she was really worried that it wouldn't stop bleeding (I know, I have no idea where they come from either!) She is very excited for the tooth fairy and has been asking all kinds of questions about how she knows, and how she gets in the house, and oh boy it is quite the story let me assure you! So now the tooth fairy has to visit--thank goodness she is a pretty sound sleeper-because this tooth fairy is pretty green!

Growing up is hard to do...

So I have come to terms with growing up and letting my first child go to school. It has been the weirdest couple of days without her here all the time. And yesterday I had 2 whole hours with no children and I kept looking in the back seat of the car wondering where my little singers are (Em & Mayc love to sing along to the radio)! It was the weirdest thing. But alas I then realized that I have kids old enough to do CHORES!!!! YA!!!!! Now I don't have to everything myself, so there are advantages to growing up...So I was in the scrapbook store the other day and saw the darlingest idea and decided that I was going to copy it. So here it is, I thought I would share with you all. They turned out so cute and the girls think they are fun. They are little magnets of pictures of the jobs that they have to do, and you stick the ones they have to do that day on a flower. So anyway...maybe this won't be so bad...

First Day of School!!

Today was Emma's first day of Kindergarten!!! She was so excited she could hardly stand it! Both her and Maycee got to dress in their new school clothes and they both have worn their backpacks around all day. It is so great to have kids that love to learn, it is one of the best things that we get to do in this life.

Emma went to the Back to School Morning at the Elementary School. They got to meet their teacher and go to the library while the teacher talked to the parents. Emma has Mrs. Wheeler at Meadowbrook Elementary, and she seems like she will be excellent. She doesn't go back until next week because they have the kindergarten testing the rest of this week. Emma goes tomorrow to do hers. It's going to be a long week...

I also finally found Maycee another preschool, YA!!! She was excited that she could go to school now to. It is a lady that is in her first year teaching and seems like she should be pretty good. Maycee just needs the social interaction practice anyway, I can do academic stuff with her. So we are all set to go...Oh ya...

I started another semester again(I think I am trying to forget that). It is my last semester of gen ed classes and then I don't have anything I have to take until I get into a nursing program. I am still playing around with the idea of going to finish my cosmotology degree at SLCC while I wait to get into their nursing program, but I don't know yet.

So we are back into the swing of things, and hopefully it will be a great year for us all!!

Go World!!

We have watched the Olympics religiously for the last two weeks, and it has been so nice to turn on the tv and have something fun and exciting to watch. I was watching them with Emma one night and she told me that she wanted to be just like the gymnatics girls. And I didn't think much about it at the time, but then got to thinking last night as I watched the closing ceremonies that I would love for the Olympic Athletes to be the heros and role models for our children. The majority of them have worked so hard to accomplish getting to the Olympics and they are great people for my children to look up to. It is also great for our world to be able to see that we can all get along and have a good time, even with all the differences in lifestyles, religion, culture, ect....I was so sad to see the Olympics end last night, it was some great tv!!

Happy Anniversary!!

So today is Brad and I 6th Wedding Anniversary. I just have to say what an incredible ride it has been the last 6 years. Brad is my everything and I am so incredibly lucky to have him. Not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me that he loves me(usually more than once). He is the hardest worker I know and he would do anything to make sure his family is taken care of. It hasn't been all thrills and giggles, don't get me wrong, but we have never gone to bed mad at one another and I have made a decent communicator out of him(still a little work to do there!) He is an amazing father and a wonderful example to his children. We both commented that it seems like yesterday that we got married and the whole whirlwind of events that followed. I love him more and more everyday, and can't wait to see what forever brings our way! I love you more Brad!!

Daily Amazement

Tonight as I went to put the girls to bed this is what I found...

It has been a really good day for both of them and they have played so well together and had so much fun together. We haven't done anything out of the ordinary but they have been best friends today. They become closer and closer everyday and I am so thankful that they are such good friends. They are my princesses and Brad and I love them so much. It amazes me everyday that they do what they do. They are both so smart and strong little girls, I sometimes forget that they are still little. As a mom it is so great to see your children grow and develop. What a blessing these two are in our lives and everyone they meet!

Happy 24th of July!!

So for this holiday this year... It was pretty low key, which is sometimes nice. We didn't go anywhere super exciting but we were able to spend some time together as a family and I always love being able to do that. Brad and I took the girls to the fireworks at Mueller Park on Wednesday night. We thought that they would think that was really cool, because they have never been to see "real" fireworks before. But it was kind of a bust. Emma and Maycee enjoyed rolling down the big hill behind us more than watching the fireworks. When Maycee did stop to look at them, she informed us that they were "ridiculous"(I can't spell how she says it but it is so funny cuz she can't say it right!). So anyway the fireworks are not a big hit at our house. Oh well. I guess they still had fun, thank goodness for grassy hills...nevermind the thousands of dollars spent on ridiculous fireworks...sorry Bountiful City.

Then on Saturday we took the girls to Liberty Park. Our intention was to take them to this new thing there called Seven Canyons. It is this fun little water attraction that is like the wasatch front, all the streams and hills and canyons. But it was closed for repairs...so we stayed there and played in the other water stuff and let the girls play on all the park toys. We had fun anyway, but I was bummed that the original idea flopped. We'll have to try again another time because it looked like it would have been a lot of fun to play on. It was nice to be able to spend the afternoon together away from home though. It doesn't happen often enough, I know that.

Bee's are NOT our friends!

Yesterday we were out once again in the pool in the backyard and I had actually come in to start dinner when I can hear Maycee wailing(and when I say wailing, she was crying like she traumatically injured, Mayc isn't quiet and she isn't the least bit dramatic!) Anyway, I go to investigate and she has the grip of death on her thumb. I ask her what is the matter and she informs me that her "friends" hurt her. I was a little confused at the moment as you can imagine because it was just Emma and Maycee in the yard playing so I ask for more information and she told me that she was trying to pick up the bugs with honey on their backs! And the light clicked on...she got stung by a bee! So I took her inside and tried to pull the stinger out, and Mayc wasn't having anything to do with that. She gritted her teeth and was shaking from chomping her jaw shut so hard. So about this time Brad comes home from work and she is calmed down to a point where she isn't screaming bloody murder and he asks her what happened and she told him that she got stung and he said to her that at least she killed the bee when it stung her, and it started all over again...she had now killed one of her friends the bees. She has a thing for insects. One Sunday we were all at mom and dads and she informed Trevor that the ants are her friends. What a weird child! I had to put a bandaid on her thumb(because of course that cures everything when you're three) and the rest of the evening she walked around holding her thumb in the air with the other hand. Use it for all it's worth girl!

Summer is 1/3 over

So I can't believe that today is July 1st! It is crazy how fast this summer is just wizzing by. So for a recap of the months of June I thought I would give you some pics that I have taken. Me and the girls have pretty much spent the entire month outdoors! Emma and Maycee can't get enough of the water and being outside, they love it!

Emma and Maycee in the pool in the backyard!

Then we had JoDee's birthday and while I didn't get tons of pics I did get a few...

Grandpa helping Maycee feed the ducks

Then yesterday Grandpa and Grandma Spencer took us to Cherry Hill in our yearly tradition of going there. It was so much fun and I have to say that my children have way too much energy! I can't believe that they can keep going and going like they do. Emma is so fun and absolutely loves to be in the water, and has no fear. Maycee loves it too, it just takes her a while to warm up to it.

Maycee chillin in the lawn chair...

The lazy river is anything but lazy with Emma. She does this thing that when she is in water deeper than her head, she has to be thrown in the air and then she has to touch the bottom with her feet and bounces back up. She calls them her tigger jumps.

Jaclyn and Emma on Cardiac Canyon, the tube ride at Cherry Hill!

All in all it has been a great start to our summer! Hope ya'll are having a great time as well. Till next time...

Updated

So we didn't get the house. That's ok, we knew it was a long shot and the whole thing was a little wierd with the listing agent. So we aren't really looking at anything else but if something comes up again we may look into it at that time. So for now we are staying right where we are.

Things are going good. Just the same but at least nothing bad is happening, even if we are boring...

I need a vacation to recoup from my vacation...

So since we got back from vacation, I have had the hardest time getting back into the swing of things. And I have had so much that I am trying to do that it just got all too overwhelming. First, Brad and I found this house here in Bountiful that needs a lot(did I mention A LOT, it's pretty much a dump)of work. And we decided that on top of everything else that we would love to remodel it if we could get it for the right price. So we have been working with my dad and uncle in trying to put an offer in on this house. I think we are finally ready and when dad and Lorenzo get back from their weekend work we will put the offer in, hopefully on Monday. It is kind of a long shot but it would be totally awesome if it all worked out. So stay tuned...
Then Brad and I have decided that if we want any more kids that it really should happen sooner than later, and I would really like some more boys(Brad would never admit it, but he really wants some boys too). So last September I got rid of the birth control but my body is just not made for having children and can't decide what it wants to do so to make a long story short and not go into so much detail, my ob-gyn gave me clomid to take. It is an infertility drug that helps with cycle issues too. But the side effects are TERRIBLE, especially since I am not seeing benefits that I think I should. But with Maycee's issues I can't take it anymore. It makes me VERY irritable and that is just not a good combination with my Mayc, she requires A LOT of patience. So we have kidded that I should take the pill again since I had so much luck with it the last two times I took it. Which in all seriousness I might try it to see if it will straighten me out. I don't know...so other than that things around here are what they always are. Brad now has two guys that ride with him to Park City for work and they pay him for gas, which saves everyone money really. They both have great big trucks so what they pay Brad is significantly less than what they would spend to drive their trucks up there everyday and then it buys quite a bit of Brads gas too, so it is kind of nice, especially with gas the way it is.
I have to tell you though, last night I had to work in the ICU because the psych unit was low census so they sent me to the ICU and while I was working on a patient that was ventilated she started to come to. She turned her head toward me and mouthed the words "Thank you" to me. It was all I had to not just sit down and cry right there. It made me think with all the stress of my world, it doesn't even compare to what some of these people are going through. They are literally fighting for their lives and they still have the ability to say thank you to some complete stranger who was taking their vital signs. That's why I endure the kind of work that I get most days at work. Because there are times like this that make up for all the yucky stuff that is involved in nursing. We take for granted so much in this world, and I get to be reminded everytime I walk into the hospital that I have so much to be thankful for. What a great lesson I got last night.

The Happiest Place on Earth!

So this past week we went to Disneyland with my parents and my Brother and his wife and my sister; all on Mom and Dad Spencer! The girls were so excited and they counted down the days for months. It took forever to get here and it went by too fast. Isn't that how it always is?

We left on Tuesday and flew to LAX and then it was on to Anaheim to our hotel. This was the first time either of the girls had ever flown and so we gave them gum to chew to help their ears. And I don't know what Maycee thought that we told her about chewing the gum but come to find out on the way home she asked if she needed the gum so her ears wouldn't stick to the plane! Classic I tell ya!

The whole week was really fun and Emma is quite the roller coaster queen! If any of you have been to Anaheim lately there is a coaster in California Adventure called California Screamin' and Emma LOVED it! She thought it was the coolest thing ever. She wanted to go on the Mali Boomer but she was too short(it was the one that shoots you up 1000 feet in the air in like no seconds flat!) But she rode every other one that she could in both California Adventure and Disneyland. In fact the very first ride she ever went on was Space Mountain in Disneyland, and she was hooked. It was so fun for her; and us to watch her, she had the most fun out of all of us I think! Maycee was a little more timid about the rides but by the second day she was having fun too. I think her favorite one was a toss up between Dumbo at Disneyland and the jumping jellyfish at California Adventure. All they wanted to know when we got home last night was when they could go back!

We all went to a Princess lunch in California Adventure the first day we were there and Maycee was just completely enthralled with it! I hadn't ever payed that much attention to her reality/fantasy development until this past week and she is still in the phase where everything is real, and so a lot of the rides really freaked her out. But she loved seeing all the characters and getting their autographs, it was her movie stars in real life! The girls also got to get Princess makeovers done at this shop in Downtown Disney called Club Libby Lu. And they were so gorgeous! They loved every minute of it. Their hair was all fancy and they got glitter put all over them and lotions and make-up, every girls dream!

All-in-all, it was a wonderful vacation and we are so greatful to Mom and Dad Spencer for their generosity in taking us all on this great vacation!

Preschool Graduation!

So my Emma is a preschool graduate! I know it's not really that big of a deal but I can't believe that she is old enough to be doing this kind of thing. I am going to miss her so much when she goes to school. As we were sitting in graduation her teacher Miss Cynthia had them each stand up and reiceve their little yearbook that she had made and then Miss Cynthia said something about each child and when she got to Emma, she said just how special Em was and that she was a great leader in their class. And I was talking to my mom afterwards and we both commented on just how special Emma really is(we have commented before on it of course.) But Emma was born at a very special time in my life and when she was born it softened so many hearts and there is something about Emma that you just can't help but smile when you see her. Heavenly Father knew just what I needed at that time in my life and what it would take for me to decide to make some changes in my life. And he sent me the most angelic child. Her personality is so sweet and innocent. And there are others in our family that have benefited greatly from Emma coming to be a part of our family, many attitudes about life have changed for the better. She is an amazing girl, and her Dad and I are so proud of her and the example she is to all of her friends and family.

Maycee is our other beautiful girl and we are so glad that she is apart of our family too, it would be so boring without her and I wouldn't have gained the great mothering skills without her. She is a challenge at times but she has taught me patience and she has taught me discipline. It is so amazing to watch your children grow up, and it happens way too fast. I am so glad that I have the wonderful, strong children that I do.

This of course is one of the more challenging times with Maycee, she didn't want to eat her dinner because apperently I put the chicken on top of her buscuit and that is not how she wanted it. Brad and I thought we just had to capture this moment to make sure that whomever she meets when she gets older really knows what they are getting into! She has her moments, that's for sure! But like I said it would be really boring without her around!

What a Day!

So yesterday was the big day for Maycee, she had her surgery and while the sugery went great and she now has tubes in her ears and she no longer has adenoids in her nose, the recovery is interesting to say the least. The recovery is always the worst part of any surgery anyway, but with a three year old I think it is a little more challenging. She was pretty ok to begin with until they took her from me to take her to the surgery. She screamed all the way down the hall while the nurse was holding her(I think at that point it was probably routine with little kids, oh,but wait it gets better!) They got her sedated and the actual surgery went really fast, it only took the doctor about 45 minutes to do it and then Maycee woke up in about 20 minutes, and that is when the fun started! They had to insert a breathing tube in her while she was sedated because she had to be completely out, and then they started an IV in her for the remainder of the surgery(they initially knocked her out with a gas mask, bubble gum smelling!) So when she woke up she had this tube down her throat and this IV in her hand and did she ever let them know that she was not a happy camper about it! The recovery nurse came to get Brad and I and we could hear her screaming clear in the other room! You know I really thought that maybe it was because of her ears that she was so loud, but I think she is just a loud girl. So they removed the breathing tube, which Maycee informed Emma later that they put this yellow tube down her throat and it tasted like "scum". And then she was trying to rip out her IV and she wouldn't let the nurse touch her to take it out and when the nurse finally got it out she wouldn't let anyone hold her hand so that we could stop the bleeding so she had blood squirting everywhere, and all the while she was thrashing and kicking and screaming bloody murder. Needless to say the nurses couldn't get any vitals so they figured that she was plenty awake and very aware and so they sent us home, VERY short recovery for that one! They were so glad to see her go that when she wanted to wear the hospital gown home they said ok! It took me a good 3-4 hours to get her to calm down enough so that she didn't scream everytime you looked at her even! Thank goodness it's over! Now she has drops to ward off infection and while she isn't thrilled about it she does let you put them in. Anyway-she is pretty much back to normal now and just as loud and strong willed as ever! Brad took some pics when we got home and if looks could kill...

Anyway, that's all for now...till next time...

Miscellanious Stuff

So this past week has been pretty uneventful, so I am not even sure why I am posting anything. I worked almost 30 hours last week at the hospital, which is a lot since I have only worked that much in one month for the past year and a half, but I really like it there so I don't mind it that much.
Yesterday being Mother's Day, we went to church and the primary did their usual song in Sacrament Meeting and Maycee was VERY upset that she wasn't able to go up and sing too with Emma. They were both so well behaved in church yesterday except for that one outburst from Maycee, I was so excited! It was nice to actually be able to pay attention to the speakers. However Maycee was a little anoid at the baby in back of us, he was fussy and Maycee turned to me and said, "Mom, he isn't being quiet!" After church the girls and I went to visit with my parents and the girls always love to go to Grandmas house. Then we headed up to Heber for dinner with Brad's family. Both Greg and Colby were home from school so the girls got to see them too, it was a good visit and then we headed back home and the girls went to bed. It was a pretty long day, it always is when you have an hour drive one way to visit family. The girls usually do pretty good, but they do tend to get car sick going up and down the canyon and Emma wasn't an exception last night so we rolled down the windows and her and I practiced some deep breathing to try to settle her stomach, it worked and she made it home without throwing up in the car! Brad was so greatful since it is his car that he drives to Park City for work everyday.
Jessica sent me the pics from when we went to see baby Braxton as Emma and Maycee refer to him. So here they are...

So, anyway, I am still waiting to here from the surgical center on what time Maycee will have her surgery done, she is going to be such a lovely, not aunery at all child tomorrow, I can't wait!!!! But hopefully this will help her issues and she will eventaully be a happier child. Well that's about all for now, till next time...

So the latest in the Hyde family saga is this...

I took Maycee to the Ear, Nose and Throat doc and he said that her hearing loss combined with the time already waited for the fluid to clear up in her ears was long enough that she is a good candidate for tubes. So we scheduled for them to be put in on May 13th. He is also going to remove her adenoids, which are kind of like tonsils only not as bad. They are located at the back of her nose right in front of her ears. It isn't a bad thing, he said that this would help prevent the fluid from reaching her ears when she has allergies, which is what he thinks is causing the issue anyway. The surgery itself isn't that long, it will last about an hour for him to do both , and she will be under general anesthesia, which might prove to be interesting with Maycee, but she has proven me wrong the last couple of times we have had to do anything unfamiliar. My little angel with horns is growing up! She was so big and did all the little things for her hearing tests just like the doctor asked. She just walked right up to the sound room and sat right in the chair, I went "Wait a second here, where is my Maycee" but she is growing up, it's really sad actually... So anyway, she will be all good to go by Disneyland, we'll just have to put putty in her ears to swim.

Emma finished her dance class this last Friday and she had loved it so much. Maycee loved the last class as well because the dancers got to bring someone to dance with them and of course Maycee went with Emma. It was so funny, it's times like this that I need a video camera because words just cannot describe the scene. Jaclyn and I were laughing histerically, the other people there were probably anoid at us but we couldn't help it.
