Goodbye 2009...Hello 2010

Well we did it! We made it through another crazy year! I can't believe that this year is over already, I just have no idea where all the time goes. We are once again thankful for our very many blessings this year...and we have quite a few!

January we were blessed with the ability to work. We both had jobs and were able to re-paint and re-decorate our kitchen.

February we were blessed with somewhat patient children who had the worst case of the "I wanna go to the park" ever and the momma was very large with child and wouldn't take them, so they waited...and waited...

March we were blessed to be able to celebrate another year older of our two beautiful girls, Emma and Maycee! They celebrated their birthdays with family and friends. They are amazing girls, we love them lots! And we were also blessed that while I was not able to continue clinical work at the hospital due to the pregnancy(and other issues, but this is a positive post, so we'll leave those other issues out)I was able to continue working as a secretary in the hospital.

April we were blessed to celebrate Easter and our Savior's Resurrection and our ability to be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven! And that while my pregnancy wasn't going as planned(high blood pressure) I was still able to carry the baby without too much problem and he would be able to be born safe and healthy.

May we were blessed with lovely spring weather and the girls kind of cooperated with some very overdue pictures. And school was beginning to wind down...you could feel the excitement building in the air!

June we were blessed with the birth of our son, Wyatt! He has added so much joy and happiness to our lives. He was able to be born healthy and our lives would not be the same without him! The girls were also able to finish their school years and participated wonderfully in their respective end of year programs!

July we were blessed to be able to celebrate once again our nations birthday and the freedoms that we are so blessed to enjoy everyday being a citizen of this great country! The girls participated in swimming lessons and we finally enjoyed some warm summer weather!

August we were blessed to only have to to spend 2 days in the hospital with Maycee, instead of the months and months that some spend at Primary Childrens. She was diagnosed with Asthma. Wyatt was given a name and blessing in sacrament meeting and the girls started school again, always an exciting time!!

September we were blessed with health. Our kids were growing and things were slowly getting into a routine, be it a crazy one, but a routine, none the less.

October we were blessed with the ability to create great memories. Family pictures and halloween. And I found out I would be able to start the RN program in Jan 2010!

November we were blessed with the chance to think of all things we are thankful for...a house to live in, clothes to wear, food to eat, employment, family and friends, healthy bodies, wonderful children that make me smile, and an awesome husband!

December we were blessed with the chance to celebrate our Savior's birth, and the wonderful feelings it brings with the season! We got to be with family and enjoy the lit up faces of kids as they opened their gifts! Nothin beats that!

So as you can see we have been blessed this year! And now were are gearing up for next...See you in 2010!
The girls were promised sledding

If they helped clean the house...

So first mom's lab results were positive for Strep
Had to go get antibiotics

Then had to get the hot chocolate mix and marshmallows

Then had to blow up tubes, couldn't figure out how air compressor worked, go to Dad's to use his

In the meantime back at the ranch, baby got fed and cried himself to sleep in the swing...too much excitement for him!

Finally tubes are blown up, but one has a hole...then two...
Find duct tape (I was once told that it fixed anything!)

Can't find the duct tape, used boxing tape instead, should hold long enough for a few trips down the hill.

Now how do we get all five of us to the hill and the two blown up tubes? Like this...

All for this...

Hyde Winery est 2004

So this is how the conversation went at dinner last night:

Mom: Emma eat your pears

Emma: I don't like them, they taste funny

Maycee: I ate all mine they were Gooo-ood!

a few minutes later I take bite of them.

Mom to Dad: They have a little kick to them

Dad smells the bottle: Holy cow it smells like alcohol! They are fermenting!

They were bottled in 2004, I guess I better pay attention next time

Here comes Santa Claus

Right to the Hyde house!

Santa showed up alright! We had a great Christmas morning. My mom, dad, sister and grandparents came down to watch the kids open their presents.

But rewind to the night before.

We had the traditional Spencer Christmas Eve. Complete with the nativity story played by non other than Emma amd Maycee!

And they opened all the gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Spencer...

We are blessed!

And they got the traditional new PJ's for Christmas Eve!

Christmas party

We don't go to many Christmas parties. The one that we do go to is the family party for Brad's dad's family. It usually is a good time and there are a lot of people there so it usually provides good conversation. And Santa usually shows up for the kids!

Wyatt was enthralled with the beard, we were afraid that he was going to reach up and pull it off...

And this year Brad's parents were in charge and they had an extra something for the kids, a pinata, the girls had fun! And that's what counts right!?

Where has the time gone?

Wyatt is six months old now! I really have no idea where the last six months has gone but none the less...
My baby now weighs 16 lbs and 6 oz and is 26 1/4 inches long! He has one tooth and his tracheamalacia is doing much better. He is still pretty noisy though, he likes to scream and babbles all the time. He only breaths noisy when he is breathing really heavily or fast, and sometimes at night. But I am glad that we haven't had to have it scoped yet. We love him tons!

Childhood Innocence

Today I saw about 100 6 year olds perform for their parents. They were amazing! Such fun kids. I decided that first grade is the place to be for sure!

Then it was on to the preschool program and they are so darling and innocent, you can't help but smile. The innocence of youth needs to be captured so that we all can remember how great life can really be!

And wouldn't it be nice if we could be entertained for hours with the glass balls decorating the Christmas tree?

Merry Christmas!! And a Happy New Year!

Thursday, December 3, 2009

It's Christmas time once again at our house. We had a very nice and somewhat relaxed Thanksgiving in Heber City. We just went up for the afternoon and then came back home after stuffing our faces because I had to work at the hospital for a few hours that night, which isn't all bad, holiday pay and all. The girls begged and begged to set the Christmas tree and so Brad and I obliged and our house is decorated and looks quite festive!

Life has been somewhat the same over the last little while. I got notice from SLCC the end of October that I can start in the nursing program in January so I have been trying to figure out babysitters, and how to pay for it all, and schedules and doing all the requirements to get ready. I am super excited to start but it is going to be a tough 4 semesters!

Brad finished up work at the Park City Hospital and was on the Huntsman center addition until the mountain caved in where they were building so he was moved to the new building the are finishing up at the Research Park at the U until they decide how to proceed at the Huntsman Center. So it is nice to be able to save a few miles on the car now and the job he is on was taken over by Okland from another contractor that went belly up and so it is very far behind and was suppose to be done next week so needless to say they are working their butts off to finish and putting in 50-60 hours or more a week!

Emma finished her first quarter of first grade and did exceptionally well! She is one smart kid! She is reading on about a 4th grade level and just wizzes through all her things they do in class, and Mrs. Chandler had all praises for her, she loves her! She is quite the social butterfly as always and loves to make friends with everyone. She tells me everyday about her "new friend" she made that day. She is one in a million that one!

Maycee loves, loves preschool! She loves Miss Cynthia and she is making new friends too. She hasn't had anymore asthma attacks that have required hospital time, but you can tell the difference in her breathing on bad air days, it's what we get for living where we do! It's no fun for her either, she doesn't like to play outside on those days because it's harder for her to breath. It now makes me think twice about all this environmental conservation stuff. But she seems to be responding well to her treatments and that is great, ER trips are expensive!

Wyatt is growing up so fast! He is almost six months old! He is quite the stud and smiles and laughs for perfect strangers, and they melt right there in the store I tell ya. It takes me twice the time to go grocery shopping now because everyone has to make him smile more than once if they get him started, it's very addicting! He is a great baby and I will never know what I did to get such a great boy!

That's about it for now. We hope you all have a very wonderful and safe holiday season! Merry Christmas!

Adventures at the Doctor

It sounds like a childrens story title--oh well. It was quite adventurous this morning though. Emma has had fluid in her ears for a couple months now that back in September caused her to fail her hearing test at school. I took her into the ENT and he said that it was pretty minor and that he wanted to see if it would clear up on it's own. Well fast forward 2 months...it didn't! She has been complaining for the past couple of days that her ear hurt and that she could here these funny noises in them (the fluid sloshing around--if it can do that in your ear!) So I took her to the doctor this morning-note to self--never take all three of your children to the doctor at the same time!)

So the doctor--whom I really love--anyone need a referral in the bountiful area let me know(she is a NP that works in the MD's office). Anyway the doctor looked in Em's ears and she definately has an ear infection. So as she was writing the prescription for Emma, Maycee pops up and says well my ears hurt too! And I knew that they had been cuz her tubes have been having issues falling out for a couple of months now. So the doctor more to satisfy Maycee looked in her ears too, and she said that it looked all infected in the ear canal and that the tube was sitting in her ear canal. So she got the little hooky thing and told Maycee that it would hurt a little but that she was going to pull it out. So Maycee sat on my lap and the doc pulled the tube out and then the blood started coming and coming, and Maycee started screaming and the top of her lungs and little did we know that the tube had started growing into her ear canal it had sat there so long and it was all infected and such, so the doc gave me yet another prescription for Maycee. We were all ready to go and as a side note the doc says, " have you gotten them their flu shots?" I said thanks for reminding me I meant to ask if you had any available she said yes and that she would give them. So she came back with two of the flu mists and I told her Maycee had asthma and couldn't have the mist. And she said oh then she'll have to have the shot, at which point Maycee starts wailing again that she doesn't want the shot. So it takes me 10 minutes of wrestling Maycee out of her coat and sleeve of her shirt so they could give her the shot in her arm. So we got shots and meds for ears and poor Maycee wasn't even the one with the scheduled doctor's appointment. I certainly hope for the mother's sake of the child who's appointment was next that they weren't completly tramatized by my daughter's dramatic performance, one would have thought they cut off her arm instead! So goes our adventures...till next time!

He did it! So I am told anyway. I haven't actaully witnessed it but Brad said Wyatt rolled over last night! He has been so close for a while now, but hasn't quite got it till now, oh dear...do I remember what to do with a mobile baby???

He's 5 months old now and we wouldn't be complete without him!

Ghouls, Ghosts and Goblins! Oh My!!

Happy Halloween everyone! Ours was great and the girls loved it! Brad went on the Elk hunt this past week so it was just me and the kids. The girls didn't have school on Friday so they spent Thursday night at Grandpa and Grandma Spencers house. I hear they roasted marshmallows and made smores(for the first time ever!) and they loved them!!! So Wyatt went to bed pretty early and I watched Grey's, it was a lovely evening!!!

Then on Friday night I took the girls to the Rec center's halloween carnival. It was so fun and such a great family activity. They did a really great job for the kids. They had canoe rides in the haunted swamp and games for prizes at Alcatraz island. And they had big blow up slides and a glow in the dark maze and a bat cave amongst all sorts of things. It was great and so fun for the girls(grandma and grandpa spencer came too and watched Wyatt cuz he's not too into the halloween thing yet, he prefers to sleep!)

Then our ward had a trunk or treat so we went to that and the girls went around the neighborhood with their friends trick or treating. It was a great weekend!

Family Pics

My mom wanted a new family picture so she got my cousin Ashleigh to take them for us and we had this beautiful little place to do them at outside and then...it rained. So we did them inside and I think they turned out ok.

In awe...

Can I just say that I have the best and greatest kids in the world. No reason in particular, just in awe that I was given the opportunity to raise these wonderful children!

My Love Affair is back on...

With Grey's that is! Thursday nights Brad has to bath and take care of the kiddos because I am glued to the tv ( and he can't get mad because it is the only night I really like to watch). Last night was the season premiere and it was so great to watch--it's addicting I tell ya!

My baby boy is three months old now--He is starting to show the red in his hair a lot now, and I love it! He is the dang cutest thing if I say so myself.

First day of school

It was the first day of school for Emma-and not only that-it was the first day of first grade! She is so excited to be back in school, and I am not so sure about this whole growing up thing! I am going to miss my Emma TONS when she is gone all day(and so is Maycee), but she is going to have a great school year. She has Mrs. Chandler this year and she seems to be an excellent teacher from what I have been told.

Maycee will start preschool in a couple of weeks at Miss Cynthia's. She is so excited! And then it's just me and Wyatt...Maybe I'll catch up on those scrapbooks...

Happy Anniversary!

It has been seven years since Brad and I got married. We celebrated by just going out to dinner. It has been an amazing seven years and it will be a great many more to come! Happy Anniversary Brad-love you!

2 Months Old!

So Wyatt is 2 months old now--can you believe it?? I can't, it feels like I haven't had time to even breath the last little while.

He gained 2 full inches in the circumfrence of his head (he's going to be a smarty pants!) He is 22 3/4 inches long(50%) and weighs 10 lbs 14 oz(25%-he's tall & skinny like his daddy!). He is a pretty good baby and we are so glad that he is a part of our family.

Cherry Hill

Last night for family night we all went to Cherry Hill (minus Brad). The girls love this tradition that Grandma and Grandpa Spencer started about 3 years ago. They take us all to Cherry Hill and we get KFC for dinner and let the girls play. They LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! It takes very strong convincing to get them out of the water, especially Emma. My dad asked her if she was growing webbed hands and she looks at her hands and as if expecting there to be webs between her fingers she replies that it's just a hair! She just goes and goes and goes and goes, and then she slept until 11:00 this morning!!!! She was one tired chicky!

Maycee isn't as "into" the water as Emma but she is getting better, she loves to just do her own thing in the pool.

Emma on the other hand loves to jump in and be thrown in and tipped over and whatever else, as long as it's in the water!

Alyssa was so darling in her little swim suit and sun hat. Jaclyn and I had gone earlier to the Gateway looking for Wyatt swim stuff and found this darling hat at Baby Gap and while it's way too big for her now we couldn't pass it up(especially since it was only $5 on clearance!)

Wyatt did have his swim trunks on and loves the water too. He slept most of the afternoon though.

It was so much fun and the kids loved it! Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!!!!

It has been CRAZY around here lately...

A week ago today Maycee ended up at Primary Children's because she was having problems breathing. She had woke up saying she didn't feel well and then went back to bed. When I checked on her I noticed that she was breathing really heavily so I watched her the rest of the afternoon, but then decided that it wasn't getting any better and before I spent the whole night making sure she was still breathing I took her to the doctor. When we got there they checked her oxygen saturation and it was VERY low and they couldn't hear any air movement in her lungs so they sent us to Primary's. We spent the next 5 1/2 hours in the ER at Primary's and then they finally admitted her to the RTU (rapid treatment unit) for overnight. The first night she dipped really low again and required oxygen so they decided to admit her to the medical unit for another night. All the while giving her breathing treatments every 2-4 hours. By Friday afternoon they decided that she was better enough to go home!!! That place is wonderful and it serves an amazing purpose for us here along the wasatch front, but I would rather not ever see the inside again! (unfortunately, it may be just the beginning of our trips there now!) And just in time for me to frantically clean my house and yard for Wyatt's baby blessing on Sunday. They actually diagnosed Maycee with Asthma. So I have to be 100% better at cleaning my house and keeping the dog away from her things and I have to wash everything in HOT water and she has to just have a close eye on her all the time because she won't tell me she can't breath, she just shruggs her shoulders when you ask her, that's my mayc!

We got everything ready and Wyatt was blessed in sacrament meeting on Sunday and everyone enjoyed the yummy food (thanks to mom for getting most of it ready! And Jaclyn for taking Emma and Wyatt for two days!) Wyatt was so handsome in his cute little tux!

What a party!

Wyatt and Alyssa, they were born two weeks apart
