Happy 24th of July!!

So for this holiday this year... It was pretty low key, which is sometimes nice. We didn't go anywhere super exciting but we were able to spend some time together as a family and I always love being able to do that. Brad and I took the girls to the fireworks at Mueller Park on Wednesday night. We thought that they would think that was really cool, because they have never been to see "real" fireworks before. But it was kind of a bust. Emma and Maycee enjoyed rolling down the big hill behind us more than watching the fireworks. When Maycee did stop to look at them, she informed us that they were "ridiculous"(I can't spell how she says it but it is so funny cuz she can't say it right!). So anyway the fireworks are not a big hit at our house. Oh well. I guess they still had fun, thank goodness for grassy hills...nevermind the thousands of dollars spent on ridiculous fireworks...sorry Bountiful City.

Then on Saturday we took the girls to Liberty Park. Our intention was to take them to this new thing there called Seven Canyons. It is this fun little water attraction that is like the wasatch front, all the streams and hills and canyons. But it was closed for repairs...so we stayed there and played in the other water stuff and let the girls play on all the park toys. We had fun anyway, but I was bummed that the original idea flopped. We'll have to try again another time because it looked like it would have been a lot of fun to play on. It was nice to be able to spend the afternoon together away from home though. It doesn't happen often enough, I know that.

Bee's are NOT our friends!

Yesterday we were out once again in the pool in the backyard and I had actually come in to start dinner when I can hear Maycee wailing(and when I say wailing, she was crying like she traumatically injured, Mayc isn't quiet and she isn't the least bit dramatic!) Anyway, I go to investigate and she has the grip of death on her thumb. I ask her what is the matter and she informs me that her "friends" hurt her. I was a little confused at the moment as you can imagine because it was just Emma and Maycee in the yard playing so I ask for more information and she told me that she was trying to pick up the bugs with honey on their backs! And the light clicked on...she got stung by a bee! So I took her inside and tried to pull the stinger out, and Mayc wasn't having anything to do with that. She gritted her teeth and was shaking from chomping her jaw shut so hard. So about this time Brad comes home from work and she is calmed down to a point where she isn't screaming bloody murder and he asks her what happened and she told him that she got stung and he said to her that at least she killed the bee when it stung her, and it started all over again...she had now killed one of her friends the bees. She has a thing for insects. One Sunday we were all at mom and dads and she informed Trevor that the ants are her friends. What a weird child! I had to put a bandaid on her thumb(because of course that cures everything when you're three) and the rest of the evening she walked around holding her thumb in the air with the other hand. Use it for all it's worth girl!

Summer is 1/3 over

So I can't believe that today is July 1st! It is crazy how fast this summer is just wizzing by. So for a recap of the months of June I thought I would give you some pics that I have taken. Me and the girls have pretty much spent the entire month outdoors! Emma and Maycee can't get enough of the water and being outside, they love it!

Then we had JoDee's birthday and while I didn't get tons of pics I did get a few...

Grandpa helping Maycee feed the ducks

Then yesterday Grandpa and Grandma Spencer took us to Cherry Hill in our yearly tradition of going there. It was so much fun and I have to say that my children have way too much energy! I can't believe that they can keep going and going like they do. Emma is so fun and absolutely loves to be in the water, and has no fear. Maycee loves it too, it just takes her a while to warm up to it.

Maycee chillin in the lawn chair...

The lazy river is anything but lazy with Emma. She does this thing that when she is in water deeper than her head, she has to be thrown in the air and then she has to touch the bottom with her feet and bounces back up. She calls them her tigger jumps.

All in all it has been a great start to our summer! Hope ya'll are having a great time as well. Till next time...
